Top 3 misconceptions about Accounting

Here are the 3 misconceptions about Accounting: 

1.  Accounting is very hard.

In my almost 15 years in teaching I would often hear complaints from students saying that Accounting is very hard.  At first you will have a hard time understanding the subject but the good news is everybody does have a little difficulty in his or her chosen field of specialization.  Who does not anyway.  Engineers, scientists, doctors, teachers, even politicians had a share of mind boggling understanding their own jargon.  It is just a matter of taste.  Once you have known the twists and turns, and the process, it becomes more subtle and soothingly likable.  

In my opinion, it becomes hard when you believe it to be hard.  Take all the lessons with enthusiasm and surely you will be successful enough to go through the process.      

2.  You will be rich if you take up the course Accountancy.

In an interview with few of my former students, I asked "why take Accountancy".  To my surprise, they answered me in a quirky kind of way.  They wanted to be rich.  And I made some follow-up question and said "who told you that?"  They answered either their mom or uncle or teacher in high school.
